Lecture I: Monday, 15 March 2004 at 15:30
Random Motions in Random Media
Models of particles moving randomly in disordered environments have been considered in a number of physical sciences. Their mathematical analysis has been very active over the last thirty years and has uncovered a number of surprising effects and behaviors that were not foreseen. This lecture, aimed at a general audience, will discuss some of these models and some of these effects
Lecture II: Tuesday, 16 March 2004 at 15:30
Walk on the Infinite Cluster and Invariance Principle
In this lecture we discuss random walk on the supercritical
cluster of bond percolation on Zd as well as random walk among random
conductances between nearest neighbors on Zd. We describe central limits
theorems valid for typical realizations of the environment.
Lecture III: Wednesday, 17 March 2004 at 15:30
More on Random Motions in Random Media
In this lecture we will discuss some of the results recently obtained on certain multi-dimensional random motions in random media. The lecture will also survey a number of currently open problems.
