ELISHA NETANYAHU INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES IN MATHEMATICS
invites you to a
LECTURE SERIES
to be presented by
The lectures will be held in
Room 1
&
Room 233
Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
Lecture
I:
Room 1,
INFINITE
ALGEBRAS
We will discuss some
recent advances in the classification of
infinite-dimensional (associative, Lie, super) algebras.
Lecture
II:
Room
233,
Free pro-P groups and
polynomial identities.
It is an old problem whether the free pro-p group is linear.
This problem is related to the theory of algebras with polynomial
identities and, surprisingly, to Lie algebras graded by root systems.
Lecture
III:
Room 1,
Towards a Geometric Ring
Theory
There is
considerable interest in developing a ring-theoretic
analogue of geometric group theory.
We will review recent
attempts in this direction.
