The workshop's aim is to introduce graduate and
advanced undergraduate students to a variety of subjects in geometry, analysis,
dynamics and number theory, all intimately related to the study of aspects of
the groups SL_2(R) and SL_2(C). The required
prerequisites are familiarity with the basic material taught in undergraduate
courses in mathematics.
The talks will be given by Uri Bader, Moshe Baruch, Michael Entov, Tsachik Gelander, Yair Glasner, Alex Lubotzky, Shahar Mozes, Amos Nevo, Uri Onn, Micha Sageev, Peter Storm, Peter Sarnak and Barak Weiss. All the lectures will be held in the Sego Auditorium (Sego Building).

Unfortunately, we won't be able to cover travel expenses of the workshop participants. We do have very limited funds to cover participants' local expenses and we can also assist the participants with finding accomodation in Haifa. Getting to the Technion:
Transportation from the Airport to Haifa:
A shuttle run by "Amal Taxi Co." provides transportation from Ben-Gurion Airport to Haifa. The cost is 56 Israeli Shekels (about $16) and the service is available around the clock.
There is a train from the airport to Haifa. For details please go to "Schedules and Fares" at http://www.israrail.org.il/english/index.html. Your departure station is "Ben-Gurion Airport", and your destination station is "Hof Ha-Carmel". Upon arriving in Haifa, you will need to take a taxi from the train station to your hotel; the day fare is about 40 Israeli Shekels. Please be advised that the train does not run from Friday afternoon until approx. 20:00 on Saturday night.
Taxi from the Airport to Haifa will cost about $80 (night fare is higher).
