The 2009 Haifa Matrix Theory Conference will take place at the Technion, on May 18-21, 2009, under the auspices of the Technion's Center for Mathematical Sciences. This will be the fifteenth in a sequence of matrix theory conferences held at the Technion since 1984. As in the past, all talks will be of 30 minutes duration, and will cover a wide spectrum of theoretical and applied linear algebra. The conference will host two special sessions; one to celebrate Leiba Rodman's 60th birthday, and the other devoted to the teaching of Linear Algebra.

Accommodations:
The Center for mathematical Sciences has arranged for special rates at two hotels in Haifa. Please make all the reservations through our office (cms@math.technion.ac.il ) . All reservations should be made up to March 15, 2009 in order for us to ensure the availability of the rooms. The CMS will provide daily transportation to and from the hotels to the Technion during the period of the conference. Below you can find information regarding the hotels:

Transportation to and from the airport:

• A shuttle run by "Amal Taxi Co." provides transportation from Ben-Gurion Airport to Haifa. The cost is 56 Israeli Shekels (about $16) and the service is available around the clock.
• There is now a convenient train directly from the airport to Haifa running Sundays through midday Fridays for about $10 one way which takes about 1 hour 15 min. For details please go to: www.rail.co.il/EN/Pages/HomePage.aspx (Origin station: Ben Gurion airport, Destination: Haifa, Hof HaKarmel (first arrival terminal in Haifa). Upon arriving in Haifa, you will need to take a taxi from the train station to your hotel; the day fare is about 40 Israeli Shekels.
• Taxi from the Airport to Haifa will cost about $80 (night fare is higher).

Credit cards & Currency Exchange

• All major credit cards are accepted in Israel.
• Most banks, including those at the Airport and on Campus, will exchange major currencies, such as USD and Euro, for Israeli Shekels (NIS).
• Israeli Shekels can also be obtained at many Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), including the Airport and on Campus.
